Player Development

Fall Player Challenge!

We are excited to introduce our fall player challenge!

Most players have one or two practices and a game each week. This is a great start, however, it is important for players to get their feet on the ball every day.

We are challenging players to get 1,000 touches in every week for the next six weeks. We will be sending out a suggested activity each week.

Please print the attached form and record the number of touches each day. Parents should initial each day. Forms will be turned in the last week of October. Every player who completes the challenge will receive a prize and will also receive a chance to win a $50 gift card to Dick’s Sporting Goods.

The challenge for week one is to build your own dribbling obstacle course.Players who send in videos and pictures will receive bonus chances to win.

Week 5: Sprints and Speed Changes

Time sprints at 10, 25, or 50 yards and send in your times. Set up shuttle runs for an added challenge. We then encourage players to practice dribbling with speed changes.

Week 4: Foundation Touches

Touch the inside of one foot to the ball then the other – alternating back and forth. Try stationary at first then traveling forward. Here’s a video example for reference:

Week 3: Volleys!

Practice with a partner or against a wall using instep and top of the foot. Here’s a video example:

Week 2: Juggling!

Juggle a soccer ball today to get your starting number. Older players must keep if off the ground, while younger players can have one bounce in between each juggle. Try to increase your record each day. Make sure to send in your videos and pictures for bonus chances at winning!

Please let us know if you have any questions.
